Marvin Loría called up to U-23 Costa Rica Men's National Team for Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Olympic qualifying to take place in Guadalajara, Mexico from March 18-30

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Marvin Loría has been called in by the U-23 Costa Rica Men’s National Team ahead of the Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico, which will take place March 18-30.

In 21 appearances (12 starts) across all competitions for the Timbers in 2020, Loría, 23, tallied two assists in 905 minutes played. Loría registered two assists in 17 games played (9 starts) for Portland during the 2020 MLS regular season. Across three seasons played (2018-20) in his career for the Timbers, Loría has totaled two goals and three assists in 43 appearances (22 starts) across all competitions.



Loría, who last month was called into a pre-Olympic training camp, has made several appearances for Costa Rica at the youth level, including three appearances (one start) at the 2017 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Costa Rica. Additionally, Loría received his first call-up to the senior men’s national team on Feb. 2, 2019, starting and playing 77 minutes in a 2-0 loss against the U.S. Men’s National Team at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.  

Costa Rica kicks off Olympic qualifying Thursday, March 18 vs. United States at 2 p.m. (Pacific), faces Mexico on Sunday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific) and wraps up the group stage against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, March 24 at 4 p.m. (Pacific).
