Sports Medicine Oregon/Orthopaedic Surgeon – Richard H. Edelson, M.D.

Dr. Edelson, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, serves as chief medical officer and head team physician for the Portland Timbers. He completed his fellowship training in sports medicine. His practice includes a wide range of orthopaedic and sports injuries, focusing primarily on knee and shoulder injuries. He is especially skilled in arthroscopic surgery of knees and shoulders.

Dr. Edelson obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Human Biology at Stanford University. He received his Medical Degree, and holds a Master’s Degree in Pathology from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Edelson completed his Surgery Internship and Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Utah Medical Center and Affiliated Hospitals. His Medical Fellowship in Sports Medicine was at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Edelson serves as the orthopaedic consultant for the Portland Thorns and provides orthopaedic support through the local community, including athletic coverage for local high schools. He also serves on the Board of Directors and advisory boards on several physician organizations. He and his wife Jill have three children. Dr. Edelson enjoys golf, skiing and working out.

Sports Medicine Oregon/Orthopaedic Surgeon – Jonathan E. Greenleaf, M.D.

Dr. Greenleaf,a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, serves as one of the team physicians for thePortland Timbers. He completed his fellowship training in sports medicine and pediatric orthopaedics. Although he treats a wide variety of orthopaedic patients, Dr. Greenleaf is especially skilled in arthroscopic treatment of knees and shoulders.

Dr. Greenleaf completed his Undergraduate Degree in Biology at Wesleyan University and received his Medical Degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed an Internship at Eastern Virginia Medical Center. Dr. Greenleaf completed his Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Residency and was Chief Resident at Boston University School of Medicine. His medical Fellowships include a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic in Eugene, Oregon and a Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand.

Besides maintaining his practice, Dr. Greenleaf provides orthopaedic support throughout the local community, including for local high schools. He and his wife Lisa have three children. Dr. Greenleaf, an avid fly fisherman, also enjoys mountain biking and rock climbing.

Sports Medicine Oregon/Orthopaedic Surgeon – Adam Heisinger, D.O.

Adam Heisinger, D.O., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy. Dr. Heisinger treats athletes of all ages and skill levels, with his main focus on arthroscopically treated disorders of the knee and shoulder.

Dr. Heisinger received his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota, before earning his medical degree at Des Moines University. After completing his internships and residency, he spent 4 years in the Air Force as a flight surgeon.

After completing his training, he took his talents to La Grande, OR, where he was the head team physician and surgeon of the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers. He was also a clinical preceptor for Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU), teaching orthopedics to medical students. He's sports medicine experience has also included multiple high school teams, the Old Dominion University Monarchs, and the Washington Commanders NFL team.

Sports Medicine Oregon/T2 Team Doctor – Daniel Trimberger II, M.D.

Dr. Trimberger is a board certified, fellowship trained sports medicine physician. He has a special interest in injury prevention and management of soccer injuries, and injuries sustained while performing overhead throwing or hitting sports, dance medicine, and mixed martial arts. Dr. Trimberger has training in screening athletes for sudden cardiac death and extensive experience in evaluation of EKGs.

Dr. Trimberger is the team physician for the Timbers T2 Team and the Timbers Youth Academy teams. He also provides orthopedic support for the local area high schools. Dr. Trimberger believes in a team approach for managing his patients’ injuries including the integration of traditional and complementary medicine techniques. He has continued to practice Emergency Medicine in conjunction to his Sports Medicine practice.

Dr. Trimberger is a member of the American Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Emergency Physicians, and American Academy of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Trimberger enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, cross training, and spending time with his wife Melissa, and their children.
