PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. U-17 National Team is off to a strong start in the Group State of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India with a pair of victories. Timbers Academy’s Akil Watts made his U-17 World Cup debut on Monday in the United States' 1-0 win against Ghana.
Scoreless at the time, Watts – a defender – came off the bench in the 63rd minute as the team went on to record its second clean sheet of the Group Stage.
With two wins through two group games, the U.S. U-17s have already earned a berth in the Round of 16 as they head into Thursday’s Group Stage finale against Colombia; kickoff is 7:30 a.m. (Pacific) on FS2 and UNIVERSO.
