Participating in the Generation adidas Cup, the Portland Timbers U-16 Academy side recently faced Academy teams from the San Jose Earthquakes, Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake. Fielding a squad primarily comprised of younger players, the Timbers U-16s held competitive matches against each opponent, but fell in close matches to all three teams.
Coming off the Generation adidas tournament, the Timbers U-16s will resume league play against San Jose on Saturday, March 4, at Las Positas College Turf Field in Livermore, Calif., before facing Juventus Sport Club on Sunday, March 5, at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, Calif.
Isaac Homer called up to U.S. U-14 Boys’ National Team
Earning his first call up of the year, Portland Timbers Academy defender Isaac Homer is set to join the U.S. U-14 Boys’ National Team for the team’s first domestic training camp of the year. Taking place from Feb. 18-25 in Carson, Calif., the training camp will feature two matches against Club Tijuana’s U-14 and U-15 sides in two friendly matches on Feb. 24. Homer will join the U.S. U-14 BNT as part of head coach Clint Peay’s 36-player roster, featuring 33 players in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
