The Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy sides faced Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC’s U-16 and U-18 Academy teams at the adidas Timbers Training Center this past weekend, with both teams falling in closely contested matches.
After an early finish from Sounders FC in the first half, the Timbers U-16s leveled the score in the 23rd minute with a finish from Andrew Nunez, bringing the score to 1-1 in the first half. But, Seattle managed to score twice in a two-minute stretch, scoring in the 32nd and 34th minutes to take a 3-1 win.
In their rivalry match, the Timbers U-18s jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first half, with Lucas Cini scoring in the fifth minute of play, before Alan Cruz finished in the 28th minute. Going into the second half, Seattle managed to find the back of the net in the 45th minute, before scoring two additional goals in the second half.
The Timbers U-16 and U-18 Academy sides resume league play this weekend, playing host to Arsenal FC and Real So Cal’s U-16 and U-18 sides at the adidas Timbers Training Center.
