Academy Update | Timbers U-19s, U-17s assemble unbeaten California road trip

The Portland Timbers Academy U-19 and U-17 teams went unbeaten on a weekend road trip to the Sacramento, Calif., area, posting a combined 3-0-1 record and, together, out-scoring their opponents 16-3 over four matches played at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.


Forward Will Inalien scored a sixth-minute goal to help the Timbers U-19s (3-3-1, 10pts) open their road trip with a 1-1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes Academy on Oct. 14.


The next day, the Timbers U-19s erupted for seven goals in a 7-1 route of Silicon Valley Soccer Academy on Oct. 15, receiving goals from five different scorers. Lucas Cini led the way with a second-half hat trick, scoring in the 57th, 77th and 88th minutes. Anthony Hebert leveled the score, 1-1, in the 35th minute. Inalien scored his second goal of the weekend in the 62nd minute, while Lorenzo Lopez and John Klein each scored their first tallies of the season.


The results moved the Timbers U-19s into a tie for third place in the Northwest Division standings. 




The Timbers U-17s (3-4-0, 9pts) continued their form from GA Cup qualifying into U.S. Soccer Development Academy play. A Josh Darius brace, scoring twice just two minutes apart in the 60th and 62nd minutes, helped the team to a 3-1 victory against the Earthquakes U-17s on Oct. 14. Andy Lomeli scored a third straight goal for Portland in the 70th minute.




Five different goal-scorers chipped in for a 5-0 win for the Timbers U-17s against Silicon Valley Soccer Academy on Oct. 15. Andrew Nunez got the scoring started in the 16th minute for a 1-0 halftime lead. Sebastian Serpa, Salvador Villegas Jr., and Rian Jamai all scored inside the first 10 minutes of the second half. Darius capped the scoring with this third goal of the weekend in the 89th minute.


The Timbers U-17s have won five straight across all competitions.




The Timbers U-15s (1-3-2, 5pts) suffered a pair of 1-0 road losses on their Bay Area trip, falling to San Jose’s U-15s on Oct. 14 and then to Silicon Valley Soccer Academy on Oct. 15.




The Timbers U-14s (3-2-0, 9pts) defeated Washington Premier U-14s 2-1 on Oct. 14, with goals by Diego Elizalde and Ricardo Chacon. The win is the team's second in a row.




The Timbers U-13s were handed a 5-2 loss by the Washington Premier U-13s on Oct. 14. Bryan Rodriguez contributed a goal in the first half, while Yojan Espiritu scored for Portland in the second half - it was the second goal on the season for both players.
