A number of 2014 World Cup veterans, including the US national team's Julian Green, will suit up for Bayern Munich for the reigning German champions' entire US tour, which begins next week.
The roster for the tour will feature current UEFA Best Player in Europe Franck Ribéry, last season’s leading Bundesliga goalscorer and new signing Robert Lewandowski, as well as the young up-and-comer Green.
They will be accompanied by the other two summer signings, Sebastian Rode and Juan Bernat. Some of the first-team players that will be part of the squad for the US tour from the start include World Cup participants Javi Martinez (Spain), Xherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland), as well as Bayern veterans David Alaba, Claudio Pizarro and Holger Badstuber.
Bayern will embark on an eight-day tour of the US next week starting with stops in New York and New Jersey for a match against Mexico’s Chivas de Guadalajara on July 31 at Red Bull Arena (tickets on sale here), before heading to Portland to take on the MLS-All Stars on Aug. 6 in the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game (6:30 pm PT, ESPN2/UniMas in US, TSN/RDS in Canada).
The US roster will be supplemented by selected players from the FC Bayern II reserves and U-19 youth players.
Though they won't be available for the game against Chivas, Bayern's six German World Cup winners – Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jerome Boateng, Thomas Müller and Mario Götze – along with the other two semi-finalists Arjen Robben (Netherlands) and Dante (Brazil), will join the squad in Portland ahead of the MLS All-Star Game.
