For a guy who's been a part of every level of soccer in the Rose City, from youth ranks at FC Portland, to high school at Sunset High, to college at the University of Portland, to pro with both the USL and MLS versions of the Portland Timbers, Andrew Gregor knows his way around Soccer City, USA.
Longtime Timbers fans will remember him patrolling the midfield with fire for the USL editions of both the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers but Gregor was also a part of the early years of MLS and crossed paths with Caleb Porter as a teammate on the U.S. national team's bronze medal win at the 1997 World University Games.
In the latest Backcut Podcast, we hear from Gregor about growing up in soccer in Portland, the impact Timbers legend Clive Charles had and continues to have on Gregor, and how his new combined role of Timbers radio/television soccer analyst, U-23s assistant coach and academy coach has come to be.
