Tuiloma and New Zealand will face Costa Rica on June 14
PORTLAND, Ore. – Timbers defender Bill Tuiloma was called into the New Zealand Men’s National Team for the upcoming FIFA international break from May 29 to June 14, the club announced today. Tuiloma will join New Zealand on May 29 in Malaga, Spain.
Tuiloma and New Zealand are set to face Costa Rica for their final FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Intercontinental Qualifying match on June 14 at Al Rayyan Stadium in Doha Qatar. The winner of the match will punch a ticket to the main draw of the World Cup, claiming the last available spot. Prior to the play-off match, the All Whites will play a friendly match against Peru on June 5 at RCDE Stadium in Barcelona, Spain.
The Auckland, New Zealand native has scored four goals in 31 appearances for New Zealand. Tuiloma has been part of New Zealand’s U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams before making his senior debut on Oct. 15, 2013, at the age of 18. Most recently, Tuiloma scored a brace for the All Whites on March 30 in a 5-0 win over Solomon Islands.
