The Portland Timbers 2016 regular season schedule presented by Simple is out and is filled to the brim with big matchups and interesting battles. Here are a few to keep an eye on:
Cascadia Cup
The annual battle for Cascadia supremacy for the Timbers begins May 7 when they travel to Canada to take on Whitecaps FC. The winner is determined by the best head-to-head results between the three Cascadia teams of Portland, Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Home games are listed in bold.

Back-to-Back
The Timbers have three home-and-home series in the 2016 regular season where they will play the same team twice in successive weekends. They first take on Sporting Kansas City back-to-back on the road on July 31 (11am PT, FOX) and then back home a week later on Aug. 7 (1pm PT, ESPN). Portland will also battle Seattle on Aug. 21 (6:30pm PT, FS1) at CenturyLink Field and then at Providence Park on Aug. 28 (2pm PT, ESPN). Finally, near the end of the season, the Timbers will take on the Rapids in Colorado on Oct. 1 (6pm PT) and then again in Portland on Oct. 16 (4pm PT).

While the Timbers’ full television and radio broadcast details will be announced at a later date, today revealed that 15 matches will be on national television—two on network channel FOX. Home games are listed in bold:
