Heading into the Portland Timbers' match against rival Seattle Sounders FC this Sunday (6:30pm PT, Fox Sports 1), the Timbers sit bottom of the Cascadia Cup standings having only played one such game this season (a 2-1 loss on March 28 in Vancouver). Against Seattle, the Timbers will be looking to catch up to Vancouver and put some distance between themselves and the Sounders, who on Sunday will be playing in their first Cascadia Cup match this season.
Because of that March 28 victory, Whitecaps FC sits atop the Cascadia Cup standings with a mere three points. With a long season ahead, including eight more Cascadia Cup matches, the Timbers will have plenty of time to move up the table, particularly when they host the Whitecaps at Providence Park on May 2 (7:30pm PT, ROOT Sports).
