With four matches remaining in the race for the Cascadia Cup, every point counts for the Portland Timbers heading into Sunday’s matchup against Seattle Sounders FC at Providence Park (2:00pm PT, ESPN2). The Sounders return to the Rose City for the second time this year, and the final matchup of the regular-season, following a thrilling 4-4 draw back on April 5.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC currently sits atop the table having beaten both the Timbers and the Sounders, but it is not out of reach for Portland. With a win against Seattle, the Timbers would pull within touching distance of the Whitecaps ahead of their meeting next Saturday, August 30 at BC Place in Vancouver (7:30pm PT, KPDX). Portland play their final Cascadia Cup match Sept. 20 when the Whitecaps come to Providence Park (2:00pm PT, NBCSN).
