The Cascadia Cup cannot be won or lost in the second Cup match of the season, but the Portland Timbers know the importance of a strong start in defending the Cup.
Last season, the Timbers took eight points from their first four Cup matches of 2012, putting them in a position to win the Cup in their final Cascadia match of the season at Vancouver. Tomorrow, the Timbers return to the very same ground where they won the Cascadia Cup last season to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps (4 pm PT, ROOT SPORTS, 750 AM The Game / La Pantera 940).
In the midst of a nine-game unbeaten streak, a win or draw at BC Place would extend the Timbers unbeaten streak, as well as place them at the top of the Cascadia Cup table. Currently, the Timbers are even with the Seattle Sounders after the two sides played to a draw at CenturyLink Field in March.
