PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced that forward Christine Sinclair has been named to the Canada Women’s National Team roster for a pair of upcoming closed-door friendlies against Sweden.
The Canadian Women’s National Team will travel to Los Angeles to face FIFA No. 5-ranked Sweden on Monday, Nov. 24; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (PT). The two teams meet for a second time on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. (PT). Both matches will be closed to the public. Fans will be able to follow the matches live via Twitter @CanadaSoccerEN.
Sinclair, 31, appeared in 23 matches (22 starts) for Thorns FC during the 2014 NWSL season. In her second season with the club, Sinclair tallied seven goals and one assist, while leading the NWSL in shots (77) and shots on goal (40).
Sinclair, the Canada Women’s National team captain, has 206 international caps for her career and 147 goals – which ranks third all-time in women’s international soccer. She has started and played 90 minutes in each of Canada’s nine matches in 2014.
