The Timbers Army sings a chant, "Let it rain. Let it pour. Let the Portland Timbers score. Nah-nah-nah-nah, nah-nah-nah, nah-nah." Well it rained and the Timbers certainly found the back of the net - six times, in fact - as they defeated Alpha United, 6-0, in a CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) group stage match at Providence Park. Six goals equals lots of chainsaw, smoke and saw dust, and tonight and there was plenty of it all on social media.
Compared to the weather for the match against Vancouver last weekend, tonight gave us the first taste of Fall in the Rose City. And it may have been a school night, but c'mon, it's CCL.

The Timbers produced a four-goal second half, including a brace from defender Norberto Paparatto. Yep, two goals from a center back. It was that kind of night.

And wouldn't you know it. This game is fun.
Fanendo Adi, who scored two goals of his own against Whitecaps FC, got in on the goal-scoring action as well; this was goal No. 5 on the night. Like a boss.

And a suprise guest joined Timber Joey to cut log slab No. 6 on the night.
A log slab for each goal scored and there was enough of Timber Joey's log left to cut a slab for goalkeeper Jake Gleeson, making his first start of the season, for the clean sheet.
