ORLANDO, Fla. – With a draw against Chile on Saturday night, Portland Timbers goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, defender Kamal Miller and Canada have advanced to the Copa América 2024 quarterfinal.
Making a third start, Crépeau continued his standout play during the tournament against Chile at Inter&Co Stadium. He made four saves in a scoreless draw to earn his second straight clean sheet. Chile was reduced to 10 players in the 27th minute.
With the point, Canada finished second in Group A with a 1-1-1 (4pts) record in its first-ever Copa América appearance, and now moves on to the knockout rounds.
Miller helped Canada secure the shutout against Chile, coming off the bench as a substitute late in the match. And for the second time in three Group Stage matches, Crépeau earned Canada's Player of the Match honors.
