Will Johnson was once again named the winner of the AT&T Goal of the Week on Friday, riding a wave of fan support for his stellar finish last weekend against Colorado to his second such award this season.
Johnson – who also won the award in Week 7 – earned nearly 51 percent of the vote in Week 17 for his beautifully timed chip and volley during the Timbers’ 3-0 romp over the Rapids at JELD-WEN Field. Johnson is the third straight Timbers player to win the award following Darlington Nagbe and Diego Valeri.
Real Salt Lake star Kyle Beckerman received nearly 34 percent of the vote for his volley that keyed a 2-0 win over the visiting Seattle Sounders at Rio Tinto Stadium last Saturday.
