On a crisp summer evening in Foxborough, the Portland Timbers took on the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium.
New England got on the board first. In the 27th minute, Revolution forward Charlie Davies timed a run through the Timbers backline. He took the pass from Diego Fagundez and then scored from a sharp angle.
The second half showed all kinds of purpose for Portland. Dominating possession and pushing attack forward to create chances, they were rewarded in the 65th minute. Defender Liam Ridgewell stormed forward from the backline carrying the ball all the way from midfield. Weaving past Revs players, he slotted one home from the left side to make it 1-1. His rolling celebration into the end board will be memorable for the Englishman's first ever MLS goal.
