With the Portland Timbers pushing relentlessly into the Chivas USA box, they were finally rewarded for their efforts via a blisteringly fast team counter. Following a Goats corner kick that Portland cleared away, the Timbers went on the break. Diego Valeri slipped the ball to Ryan Johnson who eventually found Rodney Wallace on the left side. Wallace made no mistake and punched it in to give the Timbers a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute.
The Timbers weren't finished. In the 70th minute, Darlington Nagbe holds on the ball on the right channel before feeding Wallace at the top of the box. Wallace unlocks the Chivas backline with a brilliant pass to Valeri who goes in untouched and fires it past McLain. It's 2-0 Portland.
Will Johnson seals the day with a great goal in the second minute of second half stoppage time to make the final score 3-0.
