After tearing through Germany here, here, and here to get a feel for the country's soccer heart beat ahead of this summer's 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Jimmy Conrad and KICKTV travel to Portugal to, in Conrad's words, learn "all about the team that's going to finish third in Group G."
In episode 5 (above), Conrad talks with afootballreport.com editor Dominic Vieira about Portugal's soccer culture and visits Sporting Club de Portugal, aka Sporting Lisbon, to learn how their academy produced future national team stars Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo. The crew also visits an S.L. Benfica to learn about the legendary Eusebio and attend a match to feel the sights and sounds of a true Portuguese game.
Episode 6 (below) dives deeper into a look at the Portuguese national team. Ex-national team player now soccer pundit Dani explains who some of the other key players not named Cristiano Ronaldo are plus Conrad talks about the impact the U.S. World Cup win over Portugal in the 2002 World Cup had on the American soccer landscape.
There's still the U.S.--with visits to Portland and Providence Park--plus Ghana left in the group for Conrad to explore. Plenty more World Cup preview yet to come.
