GROUP B OUTLOOK
After picking up six points with two wins against C.D. Dragon, the Timbers sit in second place in Group B, one point behind Saprissa. With a win against Saprissa, the Timbers will advance to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in club history. Featuring the top eight teams in the CONCACAF region, the quarterfinals will begin prior to the start of the 2017 MLS campaign.

The Timbers and Saprissa faced off in San Jose, Costa Rica, on Sept. 14, with the Timbers scoring two away goals in a 4-2 loss to the home side at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa. Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi each tallied for Portland.
SCOUTING SAPRISSA
Three-time winners of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the previous iteration of the CONCACAF Champions League, Deportivo Saprissa have made six appearances in the CONCACAF Champions League. Saprissa’s best finish occurred during the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League when the Costa Rican club advanced to the semifinals. Saprissa ventures into Wednesday’s match coming off a 2-1 loss to Herediano in league play.
