MATCH RECAP | New York City FC 0, Portland Timbers 1

The Portland Timbers defeated New York City FC 1-0 behind Diego Valeri's 44th minute goal in front of 23,651 fans at Yankee Stadium in New York. The goal marked the seventh consecutive match in a row in which Valeri has scored, tying the MLS record for goals in consecutive games.


The result gives the Timbers 44 points and sole possession of first place in the Western Conference. The Timbers next travel to Salt Lake City to play Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, September 16 (6:30pm PT, KPDX).
