PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers ran their MLS unbeaten streak to eight games – nine across all competitions – as they drew 0-0 with Sporting Kansas City in front of a crowd of 21,144 Saturday night at Providence Park.

Portland goalkeeper Jeff Attinella made four saves and the Timbers earned their fourth clean sheet of 2018.

Match Moments

23' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers midfielder Andrés Flores started a counter forward when he poked a ball up towards Fanendo Adi. Adi carried into the Sporting final third before cutting a ball back to Diego Valeri near the top of the arc. Valeri teed up a shot but KC's goalkeeper Tim Melia made the save.

41' - CROSSBAR (SKC) - Sporting winger Johnny Russell came into the box on the right side. His cross was deflected by Timbers defender Marco Farfan but the rebound fell to forward Daniel Salloi. Salloi turned and fired with the ball hitting the crossbar and banging down and away.

43' - CHANCE (POR) - Zarek Valentin threaded a pass forward to Valeri. Valeri flicked it to Adi who then played it forward to a speeding Cristhian Paredes. Melia came off his line and got just enough of a touch to knock the ball away from Paredes before he could get a shot off.

56' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland's Sebastián Blanco curled a cross from the left touch line in towards the back post that Adi snapped down with a header. Melia dove to his left to barely smack the ball away and out for a corner kick.

58' - CHANCE (POR) - Paredes hit a shot from 20 yards out that dipped and bounced on Melia but he managed to deflect.

73' - SAVE (POR) - SKC's Roger Espinoza, with a bit of space in the box, hit a low, driven shot on frame that Portland goalkeeper Jeff Attinella dove to his right to parry away.

76' - SAVE (POR) - Graham Zusi came down the right channel for Sporting, cut the ball back to his left foot and hit a shot near post that Attinella deftly denied.

82' - CHANCE (POR) - Samuel Armenteros, a second half sub for Portland, got free with the ball at midfield. He sprayed it out wide left to Blanco who then darted in on goal. His curling shot to the far post went just over the bar.

90' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland corner kick into the box, the ball bounced off players near the penalty spot towards defender Modou Jadama. Jadama, making his MLS debut, looped a header on frame that Melia scrambled to collect.

The Portland Timbers next game is in the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 when they host the LA Galaxy at Providence Park on June 15, 2018 at 7:30pm PT.
