Match Moments

5' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers took an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. With Marvin Loría and Yimmi Chara combining on the right side, an RSL defender tried to block a pass only for it to fall to forward Felipe Mora who re-directed it into the lower corner of the goal.

25' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland worked the ball up the left channel with Loría leaving a ball back near the edge of the RSL 18-yard box for Yimmi Chara to run on to. He ripped a shot from 20 yards out that forced a diving stop from Salt Lake goalkeeper David Ochoa.

32' - CHANCE (POR) - Yimmi Chara sprang Loría into the box. He dribbled to the endline and took a sharp-angled shot that Ochoa made a finger-tip save on. Santiago Moreno found the loose ball but sent his shot high.

33' - SAVE (POR) - Timbers 'keeper Steve Clark made a world-class save following a point-blank header from inside the six by RSL striker Damir Kreilach.

61' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers doubled their lead in the 61st minute as they broke forward with Moreno leading the charge. He unleashed a 25-yard rocket that hit the left post, then hit the 'keeper and went in to make it 2-0 for Portland. It was Moreno's first-ever MLS goal.

64' - SAVE (POR) - Down back the other way, RSL's Albert Rusnák hit a shot that Clark dove to his right to neatly smother.

68' - CHANCES (POR) - A Portland free kick found Dario Zuparic on the RSL back post. He headed the ball back across to Jaroslaw Niezgoda who then headed it towards goal but the attempt was saved off the line. Collecting the loose ball, Niezgoda chipped another shot just over the top corner.

74' - CHANCE (POR) - Another Timbers free kick, this time from the left side, saw Loría loft a ball into the mixer that Zuparic headed over the goal.

79' - RED CARD (RSL) - Salt Lake defender Aaron Herrera was given a second yellow and accompanying red card following a foul on the far sideline leaving RSL with 10 men for the remainder of the match.

85' - SAVE (POR) - Following an RSL corner kick, they collected the ball out wide with Justin Meram sending a cross. However, Clark made a nice save on the header from Salt Lake's Marcelo Silva.

90+3' - CHANCE (POR) - Diego Valeri curled a near-perfect free kick from 35 yards out that Ochoa had do dive to narrowly parry away from the bottom corner.
