The Storyline
Portland Timbers (9th in West, 2-2-1, 7pts) vs Houston Dynamo FC (13th in West, 0-3-2, 2pts)
What a way to bounce-back for the Timbers last Saturday evening in Commerce City. Their 3-0 win over an in-form Colorado Rapids at DICK's Sporting Goods Park has given a potential insight into what the new signings can do. New Designated Player David Da Costa continues to leave his stamp on the field, being heavily responsable for the opening own goal, and picking up an assist on the night. Forward Kevin Kelsy showed his goalscoring prowess, finding his first for the Timbers in the 75th minute, courtesy of a pinpoint cross from Jimer Fory. Head Coach Phil Neville shared postmatch:
"We have real competition for places. When you have young players you have to trust them, you have to believe in them."
Back in the Rose City for Macthday 6, the Timbers host Dynamo FC, a club seeking their first victory of the year. Fresh off their stalemate result in Seattle last weekend, Dynamo FC returns to the Pacific Northwest seeking to build on a shutout performance. In 26 all-time, regular-season match-ups, the Timbers have a two-win advantage over their southeast Texas rivals, with a 10-8-8 record. When playing at Providence Park, Portland has been dominant, winning nine of the 13 matchups (two draws).
