PORTLAND, Ore. – Top-flight Mexican club Monarcas Morelia today announced their travel roster for their matches in the United States, including a friendly against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday, July 3, at JELD-WEN Field in Portland’s inaugural Copa Verde; kickoff is 8 p.m. (Pacific).
Led by head coach Carlos Bustos, Monarcas’ 22-player travel roster is highlighted by one of Liga MX’s leading scorers of the last tournament and two-time league Golden Boot winner forward Héctor Mancilla, Ecuadorian international Jefferson Montero and goalkeeper and captain Federico Vilar.
Monarcas’ travel roster includes 13 players from the club’s squad that finished the 2013 Clausura campaign in fourth place, including defender Enrique Pérez, who earned two caps with the Mexico National Team in 2012, and midfielder Carlos Morales.
Additionally, Monarcas’ roster features Colombian international Aldo Leao and new signing Edgar Andrade, who has played in two matches in Mexico’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
