Behind the Scenes | Diego Valeri's one-day contract with Portland
Club legend Diego Valeri signed a one-day contract with the Portland Friday so he could officially retire as a Timber. The 2017 MLS MVP went out to the Timbers Training Center to meet with former teammates, coaches and staff and took part in training drills on the pitch with the squad.
Valeri will next be inducted to the team's Ring of Honor Saturday night as the Timbers host Columbus Crew SC at Providence Park, presented by adidas. Kickoff is 7:30pm PT and the first 20,000 fans will receive a special commemorative ticket.
