Portland Timbers Academy midfielder Adrian Villegas was called up to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team ahead of the 2016 Torneo de Naciones, set to take place in Mexico City, Mexico from Aug. 22-29.
Villegas is part of a 20-player USA roster that will go up against Portugal on Aug. 25, Qatar on Aug. 26 and finish the tournament against Mexico on Aug. 28. This will be the second tournament of the summer for the U-17’s after they made it to the final of the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup in India last May.
Villegas, who earned five call-ups to the U.S. U-15 Youth National Team in 2015, will join the U-17 U.S. Men’s National Team for the fourth time in 2016, previously joining the squad that took part in the 2016 Aegean Cup in Turkey in January, before being called up for the 44th International Montaigu Tounament in March and the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup in May.
