PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers Academy teams open the 2014-15 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season this weekend, playing host to Pateadores and Strikers FC in a doubleheader at the adidas Timbers Training Center in Beaverton.
The Timbers Academy face Pateadores on Saturday with the U-18 sides kicking off at 9 a.m. (Pacific), followed by the U-16 teams at 11:30 a.m. On Sunday, the Timbers Academy takes on Strikers FC with the U-18 teams play at 10 a.m. (Pacific), while the U-16 teams square off at 12:30 p.m.

The Timbers Academy teams enter their third season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and will play a 29-game, regular-season schedule during the 2014-15 campaign, which will run September through May. The Timbers Academy teams will face other MLS academy teams as well as other elite youth clubs from the Northwest and along the West Coast.
Last season, the Timbers U-18 Academy team earned its first-ever berth to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, finishing the regular season on an eight-game unbeaten streak and securing one of the final wildcard berths. The team was the first Timbers Academy club to qualify for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs at any age level and was one of four teams from the Northwest Division to reach the postseason.
