The Portland Timbers Reserves finish their 2013 MLS Reserve League season on Monday as they play host to the Seattle Sounders FC Reserves at JELD-WEN Field; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific).

Monday’s contest marks the second time that the Timbers Reserves and Sounders FC Reserves will meet during the MLS Reserve League. The Timbers Reserves took the season-opening match 1-0 over the Sounders FC Reserves back in March at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. Forward Jose Valencia’s game-deciding goal in the 86th minute sealed the victory for the Timbers Reserves.
The Timbers Reserves (4-6-3, 15pts) look to finish the 2013 MLS Reserve League season on a high note, as they are winless in their past five matches. Their last victory came on July 28 against the San Jose Earthquakes Reserves; a second-half goal by Valencia sealed the victory on the road. The Timbers Reserves are coming off a home loss to the Colorado Rapids Reserves on Sept. 21, as defender Anthony Wallace’s strike from 25 yards was the game-winner in a 1-0 decision at JELD-WEN Field.
The Sounders FC Reserves (3-6-2, 11pts) claimed all three points in their last match, defeating the Real Salt Lake Reserves 2-0 at Starfire Sports Complex, despite being out-shot 16-6. David Estrada struck first in the 13th minute and Patrick Ianni doubled the lead in the 54th minute. Goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann recorded five saves in the shutout performance.
The Timbers Reserves have won each of the last three meetings against the Sounders FC Reserves dating back to 2012, including a 3-2 victory at JELD-WEN Field in Portland’s 2012 MLS Reserve League season finale.
