PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers U-23s open their sixth Premier Development League (PDL) season on Thursday, May 15, with the first of two Providence Health & Fitness Days at Providence Park. The 2014 season marks the fifth year of the Providence Health & Fitness Days program, promoting healthy living to youth in the community through soccer.

The two Providence Health & Fitness Day matches will feature matchups against Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 on Thursday, May 15, and Puget Sound Gunners FC on Friday, May 30. Featuring a host of activities, including a pregame assembly, the daytime matches kick off at 11 a.m. (Pacific).

The Timbers U-23s, the top development team in the Portland Timbers’ development system, play a 14-game, regular-season schedule against Northwest Division opponents in 2014. With the addition of Eugene, Ore.-based Lane United FC to the Northwest Division this year, the Timbers U-23s will face each of the seven division opponents twice during the regular season, once at home and once away.

The Timbers U-23s will split their 2014 home schedule between Providence Park and other venues throughout the greater-Portland area.

Portland wraps up the regular season Sunday, July 13, against the Washington Crossfire.
