Fans took to Providence Park on a beautiful Oregon night to celebrate the Portland Timbers 2-0 victory over Houston Dynamo. Portland looked savvy from the start, with the defense standing solid as the offense attacked. In fact, the Timbers pressed for much of the first half, putting Houston on the defense early.
Portland scored early, with
Maximilano Urruti
knocking in a header off a Jorge Villafana free kick in the 34th minute.
Then, following a yellow card in the box for Houston, it was
Gaston Fernandez
who gave the Timbers a second goal on the penalty.
Fans were understandably excited to have spent a gorgeous evening covered in green and gold smoke down at the stadium.
