PORTLAND, Ore. - It was a wild night in Cascadia. The Timbers welcomed Vancouver Whitecaps FC to Providence Park for the first matchup between the two rivals during the regular season. It wouldn't take long for the action to get underway with a goal from Maxi Urruti just three minutes into the contest. Two PKs to Vancouver shortly after and the rivalry was in full swing. The clubs combined for seven goals in another intense chapter of this derby, and the Timbers didn't go down without a fight.

It was a gorgeous night in the Rose City, and Providence Park was the ring for Major League Soccer's final battle of the weekend, and a Cascadia-style battle it was. Local brewing legends Kurt and Rob Widmer - the Widmer Brothers - were on hand pregame, pouring pints in the Southern Front.
It was the first Timbers match for many, including new Thorns FC defender and Australian international, Steph Catley, fresh off leading The Matildas to a berth in the 2014 FIFA Women's World Cup. Hope you enjoyed your first taste of Soccer City, USA.
It was game-on from the opening whistle, and the Timbers threw the first punch in the third minute on a goal from Urruti - his fourth goal in four games and sixth overall on the campaign.
Whitecaps FC were awarded two penalty kicks midway through the first half to take a lead, and the rivalry was in full swing. It is a derby game afterall, @JTansey90.
'Caps entered halftime with a 3-1 advantage, but, as we've seen, when it comes to Cascadia, anything can happen. And the Timbers rallied in the second half for two goals in the final 12 minutes.
Gastón Fernández has now scored five of his six goals at Providence Park and is tied with Urruti for the team's overall goal-scoring lead with six.
On perhaps the play of the night, the Timbers pulled to within one goal, 4-3, in the 86th minute. The play starts with Valeri, who should have received a third assist of the night, at midfield and the ball never touches the ground until it falls in the back of the net with a Will Johnson goal. A tip of the cap Fanendo Adi on the play, his first MLS assist.

It was another thrilling match down to the end at Providence Park - a fourth straight match at home in which a goal was scored inside the final 10 minutes. In the end, however, Vancouver captured its first-ever win over the Timbers since the two Northwest clubs joined MLS in 2011.
It was also the first time the Timbers had tasted defeat in a regular-season match at Providence Park in well over a calendar year - 449 days, in fact. Portland had been unbeaten at home in regular-season play since April 6, 2013, a span of 22 matches and an unbeaten stretch that ranks third all-time in MLS history.
