SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica – A second half brace by midfielder Eryk Williamson plus a first half goal from new signee Felipe Mora gave the Portland Timbers a 3-1 victory over Costa Rican side Municipal Grecia on Wednesday at the Complejo Deportivo Fedefutbol Plycem in Portland's second match of the 2020 preseason campaign, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky.
For the second preseason match in a row, Portland employed two different XIs – one for each half. The Timbers jumped out to a 1-0 lead early when Mora chested down a cross from Sebastián Blanco and fired it past the Grecia keeper. The home side equalized seven minutes later on a free kick to put the halftime score at 1-1.
In the second half, Williamson scored both of his goals only six minutes apart – the first coming with a one-timed finish via a cross off the wing from T2's Marcus Epps and the second coming off a pass from T2 forward Ryan Sierakowski.
Portland will close out the Costa Rican portion of their preseason with a match on Feb. 9 against C.S. Herediano. The match is not open to the public and will not be streamed. Follow @TimbersFC on Twitter for updates.
