Turner Construction has begun to construct a pathway of steel and plastic load plates in preparation for the mobile crane to drive onto the field as shown in the photo above. A Liebherr 600-ton mobile crane is going to be used to build the full sized tower crane that is coming next month.
A temporary bridge is also being constructed in the center of the playing field over the historic Tanner Creek combo sewer that runs underneath the stadium. The bridge consists of concrete footings, beams, and steel plates which will sustain the weight of the mobile crane and allow for access over the creek throughout the construction period.
Demolition is still occurring throughout the month of December to allow for installation of the micropiles. Turner is in the process of removing the east portion of the existing canopy and the entrances of the concourse restrooms to allow for drill equipment to access the work. There are currently four drill rigs onsite with the largest of the rigs working on the concourse level.
On the street level removal of the old sidewalk and a portion of the street has commenced to allow for the installation of site utilities and foundations for the superstructure. The existing fences/gates and light bollards have been removed to allow for access to the utilities.
