A new addition to the Portland Timbers defense in 2015, Nat Borchers brings a wealth of experience after more than 200 league appearances from 2008-2014.
SPORTING IDOLS
“My two idols growing up were Dennis Bergkamp and Magic Johnson. Two very different figures, but I just loved the way they played their games and competed.”
ON THE SIDE
“I love business, I love entrepreneurs and watching how people build their own businesses. In particular, I like real estate so just trying to build a very small portfolio of real estate is what I’m trying to do. I definitely enjoy that side of things.”
BOOKWORM
“I love to read. I’m all about self-help books, definitely the oddball adventure book, too. I’m into real estate, too, so I read a lot about that. My favorite author is Tom Perrotta.”
ON THE COURT
Borchers played basketball and ran track in high school, in addition to soccer. “I was a two-guard who spotted up for three pointers and defended my ass off.”
END NOTE
"My parents were always great about teaching me that it’s not the result necessarily, but how you respond and react to negativity and that really defines who you are."
