Riding a two-game winning streak, the Portland Timbers head south looking for their first road win of 2018 when they face off with the San Jose Earthquakes, Saturday, at Avaya Stadium (7:30pm PT, FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX)). Here are five numbers to know for #SJvPOR in the latest Quick Strikes.
3Diego Valeri has been credited with an assist in three consecutive matches. Valeri is the first Timbers player since 2015 to have assists in three straight matches when he also accomplished the feat.
2 In their last game, the Timbers twice scored on headers, with Sebastián Blanco and Larrys Mabiala each delivering a headed goal. It was just the third time in club history that Portland scored two or more goals on headers in the same match.
50x2 The Timbers are currently the only team in MLS with two players on their roster who have scored 50 or more goals for their current club. Valeri leads the way with 61 goals while Fanendo Adi, who has scored in consecutive matches, has scored 53 regular-season goals for Portland.
4 Since the beginning of 2017, Portland has been shut out just four times in MLS regular-season matches. That is tied for the fewest times shut out in that time span (with New York City FC) among teams that have played in both 2017 and 2018.
209 Midfielder Diego Chara has made 209 league starts for Portland since making his first start with the club on April 30, 2011. Only one player has made more starts for a single MLS club than Chara, San Jose's Chris Wondolowski, who has started 210 MLS matches for the Earthquakes.
