Timbers huddle, Timbers vs. Crew, 9.19.18

With just five games remaining in the 2018 MLS regular season, the Portland Timbers hit the road to take on Minnesota United FC at TCF Bank Stadium (5pm PT, FOX 12 PLUS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvMIN in the latest Quick Strikes.

1+1Andy Polo is coming off a solid game against Columbus, as he both scored and had an assist in the 3-2 victory over Crew SC Wednesday. The Peruvian midfielder is the fifth Timbers player this season to have both a goal and an assist in the same match, joiningDiego Valeri, Alvas Powell, Cristhian Paredes and Sebastián Blanco.

47 In his first season as an MLS manager, Giovanni Saverese has led the Timbers to 13 wins and 47 points so far in 2018. Both those figures rank first among the eight new managers in MLS this season.

9X2 With Blanco setting a new career high in assists with nine, the Timbers have multiple players with nine or more assists in a single season (Valeri - 10) for the first time as an MLS team. This is the first time the Timbers have had two players hit nine assists since they were an NASL team in 1982.

3.3 In three games against Minnesota United FC, Portland has scored 10 goals for an average of 3.3 goals per match. That is the highest goal average for the Timbers against any MLS club and a goal-and-a-half higher than the next closest opponent (1.78 goals per game against Chicago).

12 Since 2013, the Timbers have been one of the most consistent teams in MLS. In fact, Portland is one of four teams in the league with 12 or more wins in each of the last six seasons.
