After an impressive road victory against the Philadelphia Union, the Portland Timbers return home to take on Sporting Kansas City Saturday at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, KPDX). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvSKC in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.
16 The Timbers have been on a goal-scoring tear to start the season, knocking home 16 goals in six games. In fact, Portland's goal output is the second-most in MLS history through the first six games of a season, behind only the 1998 LA Galaxy (18).
14 Since the beginning of last season, the Timbers have won 14 regular-season matches at Providence Park. That figure ties Portland with the New York Red Bulls for most home wins since the beginning of 2016.
127 It is not just on the offensive end where Portland has had success this season. The club ranks second in the league for most tackles this season with 127. Additionally, the Timbers are the only team with two players in the top seven for tackles (Alvas Powell and Marco Farfan).
25-25 Midfielder Darlington Nagbe is now the fourth player in Timbers all-era history to record at least 25 goals and 25 assists. Nagbe joins his teammate Diego Valeri as well as NASL-era players John Bain and Clyde Best in the 25-25 club.
45 When Roy Miller headed home a Diego Valeri free kick in last Saturday's win, he became the 45th different goalscorer for the Timbers in MLS play. Miller is also the third different player from Costa Rica to score for Portland, joining David Guzmán and Rodney Wallace.
