The Portland Timbers head back on the road this week to take on Western Conference foe, Real Salt Lake, Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium (7pm PT, ROOT SPORTS). Here are five numbers to know for #RSLvPOR in the latest Quick Strikes by Simple.
1.09 Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey continues his strong first season in MLS. Kwarasey's goals against average of 1.09 is tied for fifth in the league, while he leads in shutouts with 10.
7 Portland heads into the match seven points ahead of Real Salt Lake in the table with 36 points to RSL's 29. The seven points is the largest positive point margin the Timbers have ever had against RSL when the teams meet in a regular season match.
10 The Timbers have 10 regular season games remaining this season and the club will look to continue a trend as the season winds down. In the past two seasons, Portland has produced a record of 5-2-3 (18 points) from the final 10 matches in both 2013 and 2014.
16 In his 38 matches with the Timbers, Liam Ridgewell has started in 16 shutouts, which is tops among MLS defenders since his debut on July 18, 2014. The English defender has also provided stability in the back, starting the fourth most matches among MLS defenders in that timespan (38).
19 After his goal against Chicago, forward Fanendo Adi now has 19 goals in his Portland career, which ties midfielder Darlington Nagbe for second place on the Timbers MLS career goal-scoring chart behind only midfielder Diego Valeri (23). In the all-era chart, Nagbe and Adi are tied for 11th, needing one more goal to tie NASL-era Stewart Scullion for 10th place.
