Quick Strikes | Timbers have been on form against Eastern Conference opponents

Sebastián Blanco, Timbers vs. Fire, 7.5.17

In the penultimate regular-season match of 2017, the Portland Timbers will square off against D.C. United Sunday at Providence Park (4:30pm PT, ROOT SPORTS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvDC in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.

6 After Sebastián Blanco's goal against San Jose, the Timbers now have three players with six or more goals this season.

3 Portland has won three consecutive matches against Eastern Conference opponents, having defeated New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, and Orlando City SC. The three-game winning streak ties the longest win streak against Eastern Conference opponents in team history.

10 In 2017, the Timbers have scored 10 goals from headers, which is the most for the club in a single MLS season. Midfielder Diego Valeri leads the way with five headed goals this season, while defender Liam Ridgewell is second on the team with two.

21Dating back to the start of the 2016 MLS season, the Timbers, who have produced a 9-2-4 home record this season, have won the fourth-most games at home in the league, compiling a 21-5-6 record at Providence Park during that stretch.

16 D.C. United has been shut out in 16 different matches this season, just one shy of the MLS record which D.C. set in 2010. The Timbers, meanwhile, have been held scoreless just three times, which ties for the fewest in the league this season, and have scored at least one goal in 19 consecutive games leading into this weekend’s fixture.
