The Portland Timbers will play their second match of the 2020 season when they square off with expansion side Nashville SC on Sunday at Providence Park (4pm PT, ESPN, TICKETS). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvNSH in the latest Quick Strikes.
8 With his goal in the opening match, Diego Valeri became the first Timbers player ever to score in eight different seasons for the club. The Argentine maestro has scored 23 more goals for Portland than any other player in club history across all eras.
54 After appearing as a substitute against Minnesota, forward Jeremy Ebobisse has now played in 54 consecutive matches in all competitions for the Timbers.
2 Nashville SC will be the second team from Tennessee that the Timbers have played across all eras of the club. The NASL-era Timbers played against the Memphis Rogues twice, defeating them at home in 1978 and losing at the Liberty Bowl in 1980.
3 While Timbers manager Giovanni Savarese and Nashville manager Gary Smith are facing each other for the first time in MLS, the coaches have met before. In 2015, Savarese's New York Cosmos played Gary Smith's Atlanta Silverbacks three times in the NASL with Savarese's team securing a 3-0 victory to go along with two draws.
108 The expansion side Nashville will be the 108th different club to play against the Timbers in a competitive match. Nashville is the 13th different state capital to have a club that has played against Portland.
