Second-half goals from Evander and Felipe Mora erased a two-goal deficit in a bid for a comeback, but a late goal in the final moments of regulation helped Whitecaps FC hand the Timbers a 3-2 loss at BC Place.
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Despite overcoming a two-goal deficit, the Portland Timbers suffered a 3-2 loss to Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday night. Entering the second half down 2-0 to the ‘Caps, Evander and Felipe Mora each got on the scoresheet to level the road match for the Timbers, but an 87th-minute Vancouver goal would seal the result for the opposition.

Evander notched his second goal and second assist of the season in tonight’s match, making him the first Timbers player to tally multiple goals and multiple assists in 2024. It also marked Evander’s second multi-goal contribution performance of the 2024 campaign. Notably, both of Evander’s goals this season have come from outside of the 18-yard box. In his second appearance of the season, Felipe Mora scored his first goal of the campaign. It came just 13 minutes after he entered the match as a substitute. VAN – Ryan Raposo (Fafá Picault), 87th minute: The Whitecaps forced a save from Timbers goalkeeper Max Crépeau, but Ryan Raposo was there to tap in the loose ball from close range.
