PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers Academy announced today that seven players from the Timbers U-18 Academy have committed to college soccer programs.

“This is a positive start for the Timbers Academy, just in its first year, and we are delighted for our players that have made commitments to play in college,” said Adam Smith, Timbers Academy director and U-18 head coach. “The Academy staff is working hard to try and help every player in our program achieve their goals and provide them with good options if they wish to play at the college level. As the Timbers Academy continues to grow and develop, it is our goal to have our program recognized as one that develops players for the next levels.”

Five of the seven players – all seniors – have committed to Division I programs, including Oregon State University, University of Washington and Gonzaga University.
