The club’s Stand Together platform continues to have an impact internationally through its Global Assists program. For every assist contributed during the regular-season from the Timbers, Thorns FC or T2 squads, Stand Together and their partner One World Football donate a nearly destructible ball to underprivileged communities around the world.
Recently, One World Football made shipments to Peace Corps volunteers in Ecuador and Fiji who both sent back pictures of the balls in action.
In Fiji, where soccer is still a growing sport, Peace Corps volunteers led two different camps with many of the balls in action.
For one Peace Corps member in Ecuador who worked with a local counterpart volunteer on a two-day weekend camp for 22 children, the volunteer believed the camp went well and his local partner is eager to continue with future camps utilizing the donated balls. "[He] really enjoyed the project. He is now more excited to continue with the program in his community.”
