For the second consecutive week, the Portland Timbers defeated an Eastern Conference opponent on the road, knocking off Toronto FC, 2-1, at BMO Field Saturday. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from #TORvPOR.
3 With his goal, Bill Tuiloma became the third different defender to score for the Timbers this season, joining Jorge Moreira and Larrys Mabiala. Portland is the only MLS club with three defenders on the scoresheet this season.
6 Midfielder Diego Valeri delivered the fifth and sixth assists of the season, which is tied most in MLS in 2019. The assists give Valeri 71 assists for his MLS career, which place him 17th on the all-time MLS assists chart.
6 The Timbers held Toronto FC to only six shots in the match – three on goal – which is tied for the fewest ever allowed by Portland in a road match and are the fewest Toronto has had at home since 2013.
