In front of a raucous sell-out crowd at Providence Park, the Portland Timbers defeated visiting Seattle Sounders FC 4-1, presented by Tillamook. The win vaults the Timbers into a tie for third-place in the Western Conference and represents the team's first Cascadia Cup victory this season. 145Midfielder Darlington Nagbe made his 145th appearance as a Portland Timber, getting the start against the Seattle Sounders. Nagbe marked the occasion by scoring a screamer from outside the box, his first goal of the 2015 MLS season, and by assisting on the Timbers' second goal of the match.
7Forward Fanendo Adi's two goals against the Sounders marks his seventh brace in MLS since joining the Timbers in May 2014. The brace is also his third of the 2015 season, bringing his goalscoring total to eight on the year. Three braces in 2015 puts Adi second in MLS in that category, one brace shy of Columbus Crew striker Kei Kamara.
13Per Opta Sports, the Timbers' attacking quartet of Fanendo Adi, Darlington Nagbe, Diego Valeri, and Gastón Fernández combined for 13 key passes against the Sounders. Fernández led the group with four key passes, while Nagbe, Valeri and Adi each contributed three key passes. The match against the Sounders represented the first time this season that all four of those players have started together and their production could not have been more impressive as the team combined for 23 total shots, which is tied for the third-most in a single game in MLS club history.
