The Portland Thorns are currently enjoying some well-deserved time off after winning the inaugural NWSL championship. Some players have returned home to relax; others have stayed in Portland to hang out and recharge for next season.
Thorns forward Danielle Foxhoven - no stranger to worldly travels having played with Russian side FC Energiya Voronezh for a season-currently finds herself in Zimbabwe working with Coaches Across Continents, a non-profit organization that aims to create lasting world change through soccer. Coaches Across Continents strives to reach a day where children have what they need to make healthy choices and feel hope for the future.
A few years ago during her playing days in Russia, the former University of Portland standout kept a journal and would post about her experiences on her blog. Now halfway around the world again with CAC, she has once again started keeping a journal to share thoughts on her trip to Zimbabwe.
In her first entry, Danielle writes about her flight, travel tricks she learned from Christine Sinclair, miscommunication upon arrival in Zimbabwe, and the wonderful locals she met in her first several days.
