PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced that forward Christine Sinclair has been named to the Canada Women’s National Team roster for an upcoming international friendly against Germany.
Canada plays host to Germany on Wednesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. (Pacific) at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada.
Sinclair, 30, has appeared in six matches for Canada during the 2014 calendar year, scoring a goal in a 3-0 win over Finland at the Cyprus Cup on March 5. In her last appearance, Sinclair played all 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against the United States on May 8. The Canada Women’s National Team captain currently has 147 career international goals, which ranks third all-time in women’s soccer history.
A National Women’s Soccer League Best XI second-team selection in 2013, Sinclair has featured in all 10 of Portland’s matches this season, scoring one goal. She leads the league in shots (41) and ranks second in shots on goal (22).
Sinclair will join the team ahead of its match June 21 on the road against the Washington Spirit.
