PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC goalkeeper Nadine Angerer has been named to the Germany National Team roster ahead of an international friendly against Canada on June 18.
Germany travels to Vancouver, B.C., for an international friendly on Wednesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. (Pacific) at BC Place.
Angerer, 35, was named the 2013 FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year after helping lead Germany to the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championship. She recently helped guide Germany to the championship of the prestigious Algarve Cup with a 3-0 win over Japan on March 12. A two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, Angerer has earned 131 caps for Germany during her international career. The Portland goalkeeper has started and played in all 10 games for Thorns FC this season, ranking among National Women’s Soccer League leaders in saves (36) and shutouts (two).
Angerer will be unavailable for Portland’s home match Sunday against the Washington Spirit, but will rejoin the team ahead of its match on the road against the Spirit on Saturday, June 21.
